A HIGH INVOLVEMENT MODEL COMPONENT: GOALS

the extent to which the group has clear and SMART goals to target.

The research clearly shows (Wohlstetter, 1997) that goals, or targets is an integral element of the High Involvement model.

It makes sense. How many groups have you been part of when someone finally has the courage to say "What are we supposed to do?" Senge's five disciplines may call it "shared vision". Others may call it "standards" or "frameworks." They all add up to the same premise that organizations operate best when a clear structure exists that incorporates SMART goals.

SMART goals have required characteristics: They are Specific. They are Measurable. They are Achievable. They are Realistic. And they are Targeted.

ALC Leaders will assess your organization for its recognition of goals and vision, identify the extent to which these exist among your stakeholders, and make clear, organization - specific recommendations to remediate any weaknesses your organization may have.
